Tectyl 846 – COSMOLINE MIL-PRF-16173 Grade 4, Class 1
Tectyl® 846 is a modern version of the World War II COSMOLINE® type Corrosion Preventative. It is a brown waxy coating diluted in solvent which can be applied sprayed, dipped or brushed at room temperature (heating not required). Commonly used to preserve/protect cars, motors, trailer, containers, marine and railroad equipment, industrial machinery, firearms, and anything else susceptible to rust and corrosion. Solvent evaporates in 1 to 8 hours and deposits a brown waxy finish common to the shipping coating you see on a new lathe or mill. Coating dries to what the MIL-SPEC describes as a "non-tack" finish. Now available in AEROSOL CAN, as well as by the pint, quart, gallon, pail, or drum.
